Ticket Office Internship – New York Mets (Flushing, NY)

Department: Ticket Sales and Services

Date: Summer or Fall 2012

This internship program is designed for applicants who are interested in pursuing a career in professional sports and are eligible to work full-time or part-time hours.  The internship is unpaid and all candidates must be enrolled in a credit earning college course to participate.

General requirements/responsibilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Related coursework and/or experience a plus.
  • Some knowledge of Major League Baseball rules, history and players.
  • Ability to work well with others, from fellow interns and front office staff to athletes, fans, customers and corporate clients. Professional conduct, image and demeanor in an office setting.
  • Candidates must have good computer skills, including some proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel/Word).
  • Consistent, punctual and regular attendance. Available to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays. During the baseball season this includes nights and weekends when team plays home games.
  • Must have own transportation to and from Citi Field.

The Ticket Office Interns will support the day-to-day operations of the Season Ticket Sales, Group Ticket Sales, Season Ticket Account Services and Ticket Operations departments. Interns will receive practical training and experience in these areas while gaining an understanding of how the ticket office of a Major League Baseball team operates. Interns will assist with general office duties during regular business hours as well as day of game activities including, but not limited to, pre-game entertainment, ballpark tours, special event coordination and sales efforts.

New Media and Web Internship – Summer 2012 – New York Red Bulls (Harrison, NJ)

Description of Duties:

Web/New Media interns are primarily responsible for the production and packaging of content for NewYorkRedBulls.com, RedBullArena.us and the team’s social media accounts on Twitter and Facebook, as assigned by the Manager of Website and New Media.

Responsibilities include:

· Attending practice and assisting with the player interview process.
· Creating original content for NewYorkRedBulls.com.
· Creating inside pages on NewYorkRedBulls.com through HTML coding and editorial content.
Minimum Requirements: Motivated, creative college students who have experience in writing, editing and HTML/CSS for a winter/spring multimedia internship. Working hours during the week are flexible but candidates are required to work all Red Bulls regular season home games. Hours can range from 15-20 hours per week, in addition to working games and special events. Interns MUST be able to work some weekends and have a reliable source of transportation. Candidates are required to have writing experience (provide samples, please) and a personal computer that can handle the day-to-day tasks of managing a website.

Internship: Ticket Sales

Ticket Sales Summer Intern – Legends Sales & Marketing / New York Red Bulls (Harrison, NJ)

Legends Sales & Marketing seeks an intern to assist the Ticket Sales department on the New York Red Bulls project. The primary responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the departments with research and benchmarking various teams regarding sales collateral, pricing, benefits, seating charts, maps, etc.
  • Learning all aspects of the sales process with the ticket and premium sales department
  • Responsible for specific sales-driven projects
  • Assisting with ticket mailings and promotions
  • Other special projects and administrative duties, as assigned
  • Assigned game night responsibilities

The ideal candidate must have great communication skills, be professional and be able to multi-task. Applicant must have proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Pursuit of Sport Management, Marketing or related degree is preferred.

This is a non-paid internship and requires the individual to receive academic credit. The candidate should be, but not limited to, a Junior, Senior or graduate level student.

This internship requires a commitment to assist staff during some New York Red Bulls matches and be able to be in the office 30-40 hours a week.

The Long Island Ducks are accepting resumes for the position of Ballpark Operations/Maintenance Intern. This is an excellent opportunity for a college grad who wants to get into the sports industry. The Ducks are looking for an aggressive personality to handle multiple responsibilities. Your main responsibilities will include planning/coordinating game day staff, maintenance and upkeep of ballpark for each event, event traffic flow management, general office work, and much more. Excellent communication, organizational and customer service skills are required. We are looking for a ‘work-a-holic’ who isn’t afraid to work long hours and get their hands dirty.

MLS Digital Intern, Social Media

Spring/Summer 2012, Full-Time
Duration: 6 months or 12 months

All MLS/SUM Internship Program participants must be 18 years old or older and either a college student (sophomore status or higher preferred), graduate student, or have graduated within six months of their acceptance into the program.

Reporting to the Director of Social Media, the Social Media intern will work to achieve the league’s online and social media goals. The focus of this internship is to manage and optimize the league’s social media sites and aide in the production of a comprehensive social media campaign.

Responsibilities
• Manage, monitor and optimize MLS activities on all social media platforms including Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Foursquare, MySpace, etc.
• Write, publish and update content on MLSsoccer.com including articles, blogs, videos and more.
• Coordinate user-generated content collected via social media promotions and sweepstakes.
• Monitor article and blog comments on MLSsoccer.com.
• Create photo galleries by selecting, editing and uploading photos.
• Support additional digital staff members when requested.
• Evening and weekend hours will be required.

Qualifications
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Web savvy; Must possess experience with social media platforms.
• Knowledge of HTML; Experience with an HTML editor preferred.
• Experience with photo editing software (i.e. Adobe Photoshop) preferred.
• Knowledge of soccer a plus.
• Self-motivated, driven team player.
