Job Description

The summer intern carries out the duties put forth by the Director of Athletic Fields &Grounds including mowing, watering, fertilizing, painting, string trimming, practice setup and break down and all other duties to assist in practices running smoothly and ensure a quality playing surface.Specific Duties
·  Weekly reports to the Director of Grounds concerning issues and challenges
·  Ability to work independently in unsupervised conditions
·  Observe and record root depth on a weekly basis.
·  Calibrate spreader in order to apply fertilizers at their proper rate.
·  Core aerification, harvesting, and topdressing of all athletic fields.

Requirements
·  Education related to turf grass management
·  Ability to lift 50lbs numerous times a day
·  Willingness to work extended hours, including weekends
·  Ability to operate some necessary equipment related to grounds maintenance
·  Strong work ethic, positive attitude, willingness to accept all assignments, quick learner
·  Attention to detail, proven ability to problem solve and sense of urgency is a must.
·  Arrange their own transportation

This is a paid summer internship beginning June 1, 2012 through training camp ending August 30, 2012 or around schooling schedule. Housing and meals are also provided.

Overview: Spend an exciting summer marketing the 2012 Watkins Glen International race season. Selected individuals will manage a summer mobile marketing promotional campaign, called the “Racing Only Twisted Tour,” for all our racing events including the NASCAR Sprint Cup & Nationwide Series, August 9-12.

Duties:

  • Manage and facilitate the display setup at designated tour locations throughout the summer.
  • Develop and promote special tour related ticket packages and VIP fan related experiences.
  • Utilize social media to showcase your own creative ideas for tour promotion and internship experience.
  • Assist with ongoing promotions and giveaways associated with upcoming race weekends.
  • Maintenance and upkeep of the Racing Only Twisted Tour truck, trailer, race car and components.

GUIDELINES:

A detail orientated person that is hands on and has the ability to work in various settings would make a good candidate for this internship. It wouldn’t hurt if one had the desire to learn about the functions and operations of a baseball facility and anything pertaining to its upkeep.  Sales & Marketing Summer 2012 Internship – New York Islanders Hockey Club (Uniondale, NY)

The Islanders are looking for interns to assist our sales & marketing department beginning June 4, 2012, or sooner if available. The sales department is responsible for all ticket sales, group sales activities and sponsorships. This intern will be making a large volume of cold calls to prospects and clients and speaking to prospective buyers about attendance, ticket plans and events. Interns must have the ability to work independently, be outgoing and organized and must feel comfortable on the phone. Other duties can include assisting with customer service issues and getting to know our fan base by going out to meet prospective clients with Islanders sales executives. If you demonstrate the skills necessary to succeed in sales, there is a possibility of a part-time or full-time job opportunity following the internship. Local students preferred. Junior and senior students preferred.
