BASIC FUNCTION

Assist with the daily functions (collection of data, proper maintenance of same, process reports in Oracle); prepare schedules pertaining to month end closing (utilize filed data for support, review and documentation); participate in Quarterly Forecast (Analysis of current data, data entry for departmental and division forecast data, prepare and review schedules for submission in Forecast Book, assist in assembly of Forecast Book and Production & Updates as well). Archive old Financial data inclusive of reviewing documents and reports (both of which should be familiar since the month end and forecast responsibilities include the same doc and reports). Assist in special projects as needed (selection and copy of audit documentation, ad hoc work with Asst. Controller)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Data Entry for Month end and Forecast/Budget.
  2. Prepare Schedules in Excel for month end and Fcst/Bdgt.
  3. Run Monthly reports and distribute.
  4. Assist in Preparation and Coordination of Archiving of Historic Documentation and reports.
  5. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
  6. Reconcile tracking report against the General Ledger.
  7. Assists with monthly closing duties including preparing journal entries and analyzing P & L accounts.

SCOPE

This position is critical to the successful operation of the Company in several ways. Accounting and financial analysis and operations requires specific data as well as appropriate documentation. The Intern is solely responsible for the collection and maintenance of this information. Additionally, reports and other useful information requires proper organization as well as timely distribution-again, the intern is the major participant in this process. Additionally, Bdgt/Fcst Process depends heavily on data entry, review of data, preparation of schedules, compilation of documentation as well as final output, all of which is the responsibility of the Intern under the direction of the Financial Analyst as well as the Accounting Manager.

Job Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS

Business Major (preferably Accounting or Finance), Organized, Ambitious, Good Communication Skills, Excel, Word and E-mail. A working knowledge of Excel

All Candidates:

  • Must provide an approved letter from your academic advisor indicating the number of credits you will earn.
  • Must be eligible to work full time for the summer semester

Students will receive a $30/ day stipend to offset any travel expenses.

CBS SPORTS SPRING INTERNSHIPS

Program Scheduling Intern: Assist in analyzing and responding to program proposals. Develop and compute sports ratings and analysis. Accumulate competitive scheduling information. Assist in coordinating schedule changes and proposals with CBS Affiliate Relations, Sales and outside contacts. Assist Programming Department in NFL and NCAA planning sports vignettes and sales related material. Intern will report to the
Manager of Programming.
Research Intern: Assist Sports Research Department in various capacities during the NCAA Season. Furnish cassettes to production staff during editing sessions. Log interviews and feature segments. Order and update all research material media guides and sports manuals. Interns will gain thorough knowledge of CBS Sports television production and research. Intern will report to Chief Researcher.
Tape Archives Intern: Assist the Production Services Department with daily operations. The internship will focus on videotape for our weekend broadcasts. Responsibilities will include assisting with numerous dub requests, research projects, computer data input, and adjusting show titles of videotape reels. The intern will interface with CBS Sports Production, Operations, Business Affairs, Sales, Marketing and the Promotions departments. Intern will report to the Supervisor of Tape Archives.
Production Intern: The Production Intern will report to the Coordinating Producer and will be involved in observing edit sessions, viewing tape and performing research as needed. A strong interest in a future in sports production is a necessity.
Public Relations Intern: Publicity Intern will assist in the day-to-day functions of the Sports Press department. Intern will perform a wide variety of jobs including collecting and distributing stories concerning CBS Sports talent, production and broadcasts; updating biographical information on talent and production; proofreading, fact checking and filing press releases; answering phones, assist in conference calls and ratings projects. Intern will report to Vice-President, Communications.
Graphics Intern: Assist Director of Graphics in overseeing all facets of network caliber cutting edge graphic production. A strong computer background with a fertile artistic imagination is necessary in interfacing with both production staff and graphic artists to efficiently guide graphics from conception to implementation. Some weekend hours are required.

**All Interns are given a daily allowance of $8.00 for lunch and are reimbursed for local transportation to and from work.

Required:
Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate student registered in school in their junior or senioryear.
·                    Applicant must be eligible to receive course credit applicable towards graduation from their University.
·                    Must be available from approximately the beginning of January until the middle of May.
